Oude Meer, the Netherlands, 28 October 2026 – Prohort Lighting Solutions B.V., parent company of Gavita International B.V., has acquired the Hortilux brand name, intellectual property and goodwill from the bankruptcy estate of Hortilux Schréder B.V.. The assets were acquired under an agreement concluded with the court-appointed trustee. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Preserving an iconic Dutch horticultural lighting legacy

Hortilux

Hortilux Schréder, a Dutch developer and supplier of lighting installations for greenhouse horticulture and vertical farming, was declared bankrupt in September 2026. The acquisition secures the legacy of Hortilux and unites it with Agrolux, bringing together two historic Dutch brands with a combined history of more than 80 years.

The acquisition brings together complementary strengths. Hortilux brings a long track record as a service provider and innovator, a recognized name among growers, with access to markets and channels beyond Agrolux’s traditional core. Agrolux brings its horticultural lighting portfolio, engineering capability, and a newly independent organization focused on improving grower efficiency and reliability. In the coming weeks, Gavita International will assess the combined product portfolio and market reach to determine how both brands can best serve growers going forward.

“Although these are challenging times for our industry, as a Dutch company we felt strongly about preserving the value that Hortilux has provided to the industry as a service provider and innovator,” said Marc Salvany, CEO of Gavita International B.V. “We are looking to join forces in innovation, operations and service, while we continue conversations with key employees about joining our company.”

Huub Welles, Commercial Director of Gavita International B.V, added: “This acquisition creates opportunities to expand our presence in new markets and distribution channels, building on the established position of Hortilux. We are committed to engaging directly with Hortilux customers to understand their individual needs, ensure a smooth transition, and explore opportunities for continued collaboration.”

The transaction encompasses the Hortilux brand, intellectual property, and goodwill. Pre-bankruptcy liabilities and obligations of Hortilux Schréder B.V., including existing contractual commitments and warranty claims, are not assumed by the acquiring company and remain subject to the bankruptcy proceedings.
