Maintenance and cleaning

Proper inspection, maintenance, and cleaning are essential to ensure the long-term performance, safety, and reliability of Agrolux luminaires. Regular care helps prevent contamination, overheating, and reduced light output, while also protecting product warranty.

Safety First

Before performing any inspection, maintenance, or cleaning, always observe the following safety guidelines:
– Disconnect the luminaire completely from the mains before handling.
– Never connect or disconnect the Wieland RST20i3 plug under load.
– Allow a minimum cool-down period of 30 minutes before touching the luminaire or lamp.
– Do not open or disassemble the luminaire. There are no serviceable parts inside, and opening the luminaire is dangerous and will void the warranty.

Regular Inspection

To fully benefit from your Agrolux lighting system, regular inspections are strongly recommended. Check the following points:
– Inspect the wiring to ensure it is intact and undamaged.
– Examine the luminaire housing for dust or dirt buildup.
– Look for signs of contamination on the optics or exterior surfaces.
Dust and dirt accumulation can lead to overheating and reduced performance. If contamination is detected, cleaning should be carried out promptly and carefully. If maintenance beyond basic inspection is required, contact the Agrolux warranty and maintenance department (service@gavitainternational.com) to ensure proper handling and continued warranty coverage.

Cleaning Guidelines

Cleaning must always be performed with care, particularly due to the highly transparent and sensitive optics used in Agrolux luminaires.

Before Cleaning

To avoid dangerous situations and prevent warranty voidance:
– Ensure the luminaire is disconnected from mains power.
– Confirm the Wieland RST20i3 connector is not connected under load.
– Allow sufficient time for the luminaire to cool down.
– Never open or disassemble the luminaire.

How to Clean

– Clean the exterior of the luminaire using a dry or slightly damp cloth.
– Do not use high-pressure water guns.
– Never touch the optics with bare hands.
– Do not use detergents, abrasives, or aggressive cleaning substances, as these can damage internal components.

The optics are particularly sensitive to contamination. Cleaning must be done gently and only with suitable products.

Approved Cleaning Substances

Agrolux advises using professional cleaning solutions specifically designed for optical surfaces. LightShine cleaning wipes are a proven option and are available from www.lightshine.nl. The following substances are suitable for use:
– Isopropyl alcohol
– Hydrogen peroxide (10–50%)
– Ozone
– Mild soap solutions
– Distilled water
– Fresh water
– Salt water

Always use clean, lint-free materials when cleaning to avoid scratches or residue.

Substances That Must Not Be Used

The use of incorrect cleaning agents can permanently damage the optics and reduce luminaire performance. Do not use the following substances under any circumstances:
– Acetone
– Ethyl alcohol
– Methyl alcohol
– Ammonia (liquid)
– Chlorine-based cleaners such as Clorox (bleach)
– Any other agent that may affect or degrade optical surfaces
Use of these substances may cause irreversible damage and will void the warranty.

Ongoing Care

Regular inspection and correct cleaning help maintain optimal light output, extend product lifetime, and ensure safe operation. Careful handling of optics and electrical connections is essential to guarantee consistent performance in demanding growing environments.
