Our story begins on June 9, 1986, in the town of Andebu, Norway, where Gavita AS was founded. Over time, Gavita grew into a leading name in high-quality horticultural lighting, laying the foundation for innovative solutions for professional growers worldwide. Our Dutch roots began in 2002, when Agrolux was established in the Netherlands by Denis and Harry Dullemans. Agrolux quickly developed into a specialist in smart lighting and cultivation technology. With a strong focus on quality, reliability, and practical innovation, the company secured a prominent position in the international horticulture market.

Joining Forces
In 2016, Gavita was acquired by Hawthorne Gardening Company, becoming part of a global network within controlled environment agriculture. A year later, in 2017, Agrolux was also acquired by Hawthorne, marking the start of a powerful collaboration in technology, knowledge sharing, and scalable growth. In the years that followed, Agrolux continued to innovate. In 2021, the WEGA fixture was introduced, followed by the expansion of the WEGA family in 2023. These developments reflected a strong focus on modular design, energy efficiency, and ease of use.

A Promising New Chapter
A significant new chapter began in 2025 with the introduction of ALTAIR, followed by a management buyout and the relocation to a new office near Schiphol Airport. In 2026, the Agrolux brand launched the LYRA platform, AgroluxOS, and HortiMesh, bringing lighting, data, and control together in one future-ready ecosystem. Every day, Agrolux continues to build on the history of innovation, technical expertise, and dedication to professional growers around the world.
