Management buyout marks new chapter for Gavita International

Gavita International B.V., a leading name in professional horticultural lighting, has announced a change of ownership effective September 30, 2025.

The company, previously part of Hawthorne's Professional Horticulture Lighting business (a division of Scotts Miracle-Gro), has transitioned to new ownership by members of its current management team.
The leadership remains in place, with Marc Salvany stepping into the role of Chief Executive Officer while also continuing as interim Chief Operating Officer. Ad van der Vorst will continue as Chief Financial Officer. Both have been instrumental in Gavita's growth and recent transformation, and bring experience from previous leadership roles at global companies such as Signify and Intel.
Under the new ownership, Gavita International plans to continue operating as a trusted provider of horticultural lighting solutions, while broadening its focus to include adjacent technologies and service innovations aimed at supporting growers with greater efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.
"All contracts, agreements, and conditions remain unchanged," the company confirmed. It also noted that operational support from Hawthorne/ScottsMiracle-Gro will continue during the transition, ensuring stability and continuity for customers and partners.
In the coming days, the leadership team will reach out to customers and partners to discuss the transition and provide further insight into the company's strategic direction.
"Ad and I are proud to continue leading Gavita International into its next chapter—together with the same people, expertise, and values that have made the company a trusted name in horticultural lighting," said Marc Salvany, CEO.
