Gavita International appoints Commercial Director and Head of Product
Oude Meer, April 2nd, 2026 – Gavita International is pleased to announce the expansion of its team with the appointments of Huub Welles as Commercial Director and Michel Hacken as Head of Product. Both senior professionals bring extensive industry experience and a strong track record in driving commercial success and product innovation and will play a key role in supporting the company’s continued international growth and the development of its flagship brand Agrolux.
Huub Welles new Commercial Director
With over 30 years of experience in the horticulture industry, Huub brings deep knowledge of the entire value chain. His background uniquely combines experience in growing, entrepreneurship, technology, software, and AI, providing him with a forward‑looking view on how the industry is evolving. Drawing on Huub’s experience as a former gerbera grower, he offers valuable first-hand expertise in lit crop cultivation.
Huub holds an MSc in Horticulture and Phytopathology from Wageningen University & Research, strengthening his long-standing connection to the horticultural sector. His extensive expertise and strong network make him a valuable addition to Gavita International’s commercial organization.
Michel Hacken appointed Head of Product
Michel Hacken has stepped into the role of Head of Product. Michel is a seasoned expert in the lighting industry with extensive experience across the horticulture sector. Throughout his career, he has held several technical and strategic positions, most recently serving as Head of Farming at Zalux, where he worked in a dynamic and entrepreneurial setting. Michel holds a BSc in Electronics and Optics and an MA in Lighting Design, providing him with a strong technical and design foundation. His broad expertise will play a key role in strengthening Gavita International’s product portfolio and innovation roadmap.
